Gavin Johnson, Attorney

Interest in Business Law and Serving Community
Whether on the sports field, in the classroom, or in the office, I have always been driven to help others succeed. Throughout law school I developed a passion for business and became fascinated with the complex interaction between business and law. I concluded the best way to employ this passion as well as my drive to help others succeed was to provide legal services to entrepreneurs with similar passions. I’ve gained experience by working in multiple legal environments: the public sector, working alongside the city prosecutors in East Wenatchee and SeaTac; the solo practice, working with an estate planning attorney in Seattle; and the corporate realm, working in-house for a public international e-commerce company.

Background in Business
Born and raised in the Yakima valley, I grew up surrounded by agriculture. Growing up, my family made a living in local, small business agriculture, and throughout the years I’ve developed a keen interest in Washington State’s rapidly expanding wine industry. I know how important agricultural development is to Washington’s economy, and I am aware of the complex regulations and legal issues that growers face.  In addition to my agriculture experience, I’ve worked in retail sales, fitness and recreational management, and e-commerce. I’ve developed my skills and knowledge to help entrepreneurs successfully wade through the complexities of starting, maintaining, and growing a business.

I also currently serve on the Advisory Board at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, a Seattle-based nonprofit arts organization.

Interests and Hobbies
Outside the office I enjoy spending time with my wife (Clara) and dog (Remington), backpacking, fly fishing, travelling, running, skiing (both water and snow), and playing soccer and basketball. My favorite place to relax is Lake Chelan, where I can enjoy an early morning ski and a cup of coffee on the dock at my family’s cabin.
